Theme: WAKE UP TO WAKE UP THE WORLD
The celebration started 10.00 a.m., with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Eminence Cardinal John Njue. . In his homily, His Eminence said that, we came together to thank God for this precious gift and ask Him for more Vocations. He went on to remind the religious present of what Pope Francis asked of consecrated people on the day he opened this special year: to look at the past with gratitude, live the present with passion by encountering Christ in your daily work, and look at the future with hope by placing your hope in the one who does not disappoint, Jesus, who says I am with you always.
This is a year of Renewal for each one of us and in your congregations, let the day of your consecration be a historic day by living out what you promised. You are instruments in the hands of God; let Him mould you in order for you to possess the same passion that Christ had. Therefore make Jesus your only love despite all the challenges you face. This is possible when you become expert in communion with Christ, with one another, and with the local and universal Church.
Among the speeches that were given later, an interesting question was raised: How can we, as consecrated people, wake the world up, when most of us are asleep? Let us wake ourselves up first in order to be able to wake up others!
