A sad news: our Brother John Harding was found dead

All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Death,From whose embrace no mortal can escape.Woe to those who die in mortal sin!Happy those she finds doing your will!The second death can do them no harm.Praise and bless my Lord, and give him thanks. And serve him with great humility. (St. Framcis of Asissi)

It is with great sorrow that I have to tell you that today, about midday,
our Brother John Harding was found dead on a public footpath probably on his
way to our Friary at Craigmillar where he normally came for Wednesday lunch.
As you may know, he was subject to epileptic seizures which had become more
frequent lately, but the exact cause of death will have to be established by
post mortem.  We last saw him on Sunday when he came to us as usual on a
Sunday afternoon, but he showed signs then of a mental confusion which
caused me to take him back to his residence by car to make sure that he got
there safely.

I will let you know further details when these become available.

May rest in peace.

Boniface, O.F.M.

December twenty-five

After many centuries since the creation of the world, when in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and made man in his own image; and since many centuries after the flood, the Almighty had made the rainbow shine forth as a sign of alliance and peace;

Twenty centuries after the departure from Ur of the Chaldeans of Abraham, our father in faith;

Thirteen centuries after the departure of Israel from Egypt under the leadership of Moses; about a thousand years after the anointing of David as king of Israel;

In the sixty-fifth week according to the prophecy of Daniel; at the time of 194th  Olympiad;

In the year 752 from the foundation of Rome;

In the forty-second year of the empire of Caesar Augustus;

When the world was peace, Jesus Christ, eternal God and Son of the eternal Father, desiring to sanctify the world by his coming, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, after nine months, was born in Bethlehem of Judea of the Virgin Mary,

Birthplace of our Lord Jesus Christ according to human nature and became man
